To ensure a high bar of security and privacy for everyone using OONYX, we use Google’s Re-CAPTCHA software. Due to this, there might be times when you try to sign in that you receive multiple CAPTCHA attempts. Don’t worry, this is totally normal and you should still be able to access your account.
CAPTCHAs can be caused by a variety of reasons including: when a browser that may be a bot is detected, when a user attempts to login from an IP address with a poor reputation (VPN’s, Tor, bot-nets, etc.), or after rapid succession login attempts. If you’re having any trouble gaining access to your account, there are a few steps you can take to troubleshoot the captcha:
Step 1: Disable any browser extensions or plugins
Additional software on your browser can cause some issues with Re-CAPTCHA. If there’s ever a time you run into issues with logging in, try disabling any extensions you might be running:
Step 2: Try signing in from a different browser, or in private mode
If Re-CAPTCHA suspects that your browser is a bot, using a different browser entirely or signing in via your browsers private/incognito mode is a great way to troubleshoot this.
Step 3: If connected to a VPN, disconnected from the VPN when signing in
When using a VPN, your IP address can be obfuscated or placed from a different location. This can trigger Google’s Re-CAPTCHA to challenge the login. Disabling the VPN during the sign in process can negate the CAPTCHA.
